Henry Barbaro
Henry Barbaro serves as the Supervisor of
Wetlands & Water Resources for the
Massachussetts Highway Deptartment. There, he
reviews proposed projects, provides technical
and regulatory advice on wetland and water
quality issues, recommends design changes
where possible to avoid and minimize impacts
and determines the proper mitigation based on
the extent of the impact.
Anita King
Anita is co-founder of NECSP. She is a social worker
and mediator. In addition to this career, she served as
President of both the Progressive Party in
Montgomery County Maryland, and the D.C. branch of
the Women's International League for Peace and
Freedom. For the last 13 years Anita has served as
the Population Chair of the Massachusetts chapter of
Sierra Club. As such she has worked within the Five
College Consortium in Western Massachusetts, to
educate and empower students to take action on
various environmental, health, and population issues.
Her work is supported by a department at Smith
college called the Project on Women and Social
Change. Every spring she organizes a speaker series
which has featured prominent speakers, including Bill
Ryerson, President, Population Media Center; Robert
Engelman, Vice President of Research, Population
Action International; and Thoraya Obaid, Executive
Director,United Nations Population Fund.
Linn Harwell
Since 1958 Linn has worked as a professional
volunteer in the field of population and
health/well-being of women and their families.
She participated in the UN International
Conferences on Population in Bucharest/Cairo,
'74 and '94, and marched in Washington, DC 4
times for reproductive rights. Her work with
organizations such as the American Red Cross,
Planned Parenthood, the League of Women
Voters, and her roles in founding the Clara Bell
Duvall Reproductive Freedom Project and NH
Citizens for Sustainable Population, have won
her numerous awards and accolades. One
such honor was her election to the National
Women's Wall of Fame.
David Sussman
David served as development consultant for public
and private sector investment projects in Asia, Africa,
during the past 35 years. Most recent assignments
were providing management assistance to an
agricultural cooperative in Rwanda and to the Ministry
of Women's Affairs in Cambodia. He has conducted
about 50 workshops and seminars in many countries
on industrial planning for project sponsors and their
consultants, stressing the need to maintain an
ecological perspective as a means of serving the
project and community. Educated in engineering and
management science, David is a member of the BoD
of New Hampshire Citizens for Sustainable Population,
Springfield (VT) Food Cooperative. Member of
Charlestown (NH) Planning Board.
Peter Ames
Peter wrote his law school thesis on population
issues and has worked for the Population
Council, Engender Health, and The Population
Media Center. He has been to 39 countries and
has seen the issues of family planning on the
ground around the world. He has also worked
for several museums in the Boston area and
consulted on matters of planning, governance,
financial projections, and performance
indicators for museums in seven countries.

George Plumb
George is a long time environmentalist and
social activist. He was a cofounder of the
Vermont Earth Institute. He is retired from the
Recreation and now devotes most of his time
working on environmental issues and for his
church where he lead the effort for the church
to become a "Green Sanctuary" and to host
the global warming rally in Barre. He lives on
an old farm in Washington where he enjoys the
country living but is saddened to see
Washington being suburbanized like the
places he previously lived.
